To become a New Port Richey firefighter (full time or part time), an applicant must be a Florida State certified firefighter. View the
State Fire Marshal’s Office Bureau of Fire Standards and Training requirements to become a certified firefighter.
Preference is given to firefighter/paramedics.

All qualified applicants are subject to a background and driver license check. The application process consists of the following steps:
- Written examination
- Physical agility test
