City of New Port Richey’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) System Project

City of New Port Richey’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) System Project

The City of New Port Richey’s AMI Project Phase I was completed in 2014. The purposed of the project was to replace the City’s existing antiquated water meter inventory and, in the process, convert to a meter system that would have the ability to integrate meter data management software compatible with the City’s new utility billing software. Approximately half of the City’s residentials services across the Utility Service Area are in need of replacement due to the exceedance of their useful life, while the remaining meters still have approximately eight to ten years of recommended service life remaining.

In order to have the new water meters installed in a realistic and timely manner, the City has contracted Core & Main LP to expedite the process.  City staff will also be working with Aqua Meter Consultants on this project.  Beginning Tuesday, April 4, 2023, staff from Aqua Meter Consultants will begin the meter replacements. Aqua Meter Consultants will make their best effort to contact each residence prior to the removal and replacement of the meter to avoid any potential inconveniences. The contractor’s uniform attire and vehicles will be equipped with an Aqua Meter logo, as shown in this notification. Residents can expect no changes or issues with their utility bill. This project will be ongoing and is anticipated to be completed before the end of this year.
