City of New Port Richey Utility Repair for Lakewood Villas Neighborhood

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – Weather permitting, on Tuesday, April 16 at 9:00 a.m., City of New Port Richey crews will commence repairs to utilities on Cypress Drive in the Lakewood Villas neighborhood. Additionally, crews will install water valves on Runnel Drive. Residents can expect reduced pressure for up to eight hours, necessitating a Precautionary Boil Order. Those who receive the physical notice should comply with the order until all repairs are completed and the Precautionary Boil Water Notice has been rescinded.

As a precaution, we recommend boiling all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes. A rolling boil for one minute is adequate. Alternatively, bottled water can be used. Boiling water is a proactive measure to eliminate possible contaminants until the Precautionary Boil Water Notice is lifted. Those who received the physical notice of the precautionary boil order will then receive a rescinding notice when the water is deemed safe to drink.

Once the repair work is completed, residents may notice cloudy water, tapping in their pipes, and a build up of residue within their toilet and faucet screens. While this is a normal occurrence after a shutdown of the utility, it is advised that each resident affected by the shutdown turn on their outdoor hose bibs to flush their water lines for a few minutes.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that we are dedicated to providing the best service and water quality for our utility customers. For questions or concerns, please contact the Precautionary Boil Water Hotline at (727) 277-0161 or Public Works Department at (727) 841-4536.
