“It is important to celebrate our history and share our story with the community here in New Port Richey,” said Larnelle Scott, Past President of the African American Club of West Pasco County and the City’s Cultural Affairs Committee Ambassador.

This event is a one-of-a-kind Juneteenth experience and will be hosted by Comedian and “King of Crowd Work” Rudy Wilson. There will be a performance by Orisirisi African Folklore, a moving performance by spoken-word artist Lynette Williams, and an interactive dance experience led by Que’lynn Hicks a.k.a. “This event isn’t just a performance,” said Debbie L. Manns, City Manager of New Port Richey. “It’s a powerful tribute to resilience, culture, and progress, and we are proud to host it here in the heart of Downtown New Port Richey.”

The event is a culmination of efforts from the City of New Port Richey’s staff, volunteers, and Cultural Affairs Committee. The City’s Cultural Affairs Committee Vice Chair, Kim Brust, says she can’t wait to watch the event come to life.

“This is a significant moment in our country’s history,” said Brust. “It’s an opportunity for our city to honor the meaning of the holiday, reflect on its legacy, and celebrate the contributions, resilience, and vibrant culture of the African American community.”
