2026 Monarch Butterfly Festival
New Port Richey FarmNet, in partnership with the City of New Port Richey, will present the 2026 Monarch Butterfly Festival on Saturday, May 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the New Port Richey Public Library, 5939 Main Street.
This annual celebration highlights the City’s ongoing commitment to ecological restoration and pollinator protection. New Port Richey was recognized as a Monarch City, USA in 2019 for its efforts to restore Monarch-friendly habitats and support environmental initiatives.
Made possible through the support of ServePro – Team George, the City’s Environmental Committee, and the New Port Richey Public Library, the festival offers a lively, educational experience for all ages. Attendees can enjoy environmental presentations, children’s activities, live music, local artisan goods, and butterfly-themed art.
Featured keynote speaker Shawn “The Milkweed Man” will lead an engaging presentation on milkweed care and cultivation. Additional programming includes participation from organizations such as the Sierra Club, New Port Richey FarmNet, and the Environmental Committee, offering insight into ecological regeneration and conservation.
As part of FarmNet’s Wildflower Initiative, all attendees will receive free milkweed seeds from the Library’s seed program to help create Monarch habitats at home. The first 30 guests will also receive a complimentary milkweed seedling, with additional plants available for purchase.
Festival highlights include:
-
Milkweed seeds and seedlings
-
Educational presentations and ecological talks
-
Children’s arts, crafts, and face painting
-
Art vendors featuring butterfly-inspired works
-
Live music with nature-themed performances
The Environmental Committee and FarmNet encourage residents to take part in restoring pollinator populations by planting native wildflowers. With Monarch butterflies facing significant decline worldwide, small actions at home can make a meaningful impact.
The Monarch Butterfly Festival is free and open to the public. Residents and visitors are invited to attend, learn, and contribute to a healthier, more vibrant ecosystem.
