Position Description

 

The City of New Port Richey, FL is seeking a fulltime Building Official for our Planning & Development Department.  The City of New Port Richey is a riverfront community approximately 30 miles northwest of greater Tampa with a total area of 4.6 miles.

Position will perform both supervisory and administrative duties in building construction regulation to ensure public safety and health.  Responsible for a variety of tasks associated with building inspection, plan examination and permitting work.  The Building Official will enforce building codes, regulations and ordinances for both residential and commercial construction.  This is a highly visible public contact position that requires exceptional customer service skills. The position will also include shared services responsibilities with an adjoining community, supporting regional cooperation and efficient service delivery. At least 10 years of experience in building construction with supervisory responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience necessary.  Qualified candidates must be Licensed by the State of Florida as a Building Code Administrator at time of hire, under provisions of FS Chapter 468 and certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Certified Building Official (CBO).  Additionally, certification as a Certified Floodplain Manager or ability to obtain will be necessary.

The anticipated annual starting salary for this position is $89,389 - $102,797 DOE.
