Pasco County's Better Future

Better Future is Pasco County’s initiative for our allocation of Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds. CDBG-DR is federal U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding intended to assist communities with long-term disaster recovery and help us be more resilient in the face of future disasters. 

Pasco’s Individual Housing Program is the first of several programs designed to help our community recover with nearly $586 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery program.

Ultimately, determining how to spend the $585 million was based on three things: HUD requirements, community feedback, and disaster impact data. Please see below for a summary of the approved program allocations:

Tentative Timeline: 

October 2025:
Publish individual housing program policies and procedures that further detail eligibility, requirements, and next steps.

November 2025:
Publish application templates and host outreach events dedicated to sharing information on individual housing program rollout, including what documentation homeowners need to prepare.

December 2025:
Individual housing programs begin rollout - residents can submit applications for eligible activities.

Winter 2026:
Remaining programs begin rollout.
