NPR Fire Department staffMission
The mission of the New Port Richey Fire and Emergency Services Department is to protect the lives and property of citizens and visitors to New Port Richey by providing the highest possible levels of service through fire prevention, public education, fire suppression, emergency medical services, and mitigation of the effects of natural and man-made disasters, consistent with resources provided.

Back in 1922, a group of men organized the New Port Richey Volunteer Fire Department. Through donations, the volunteers were able to purchase an Ajax Chemical Engine mounted on a Ford chassis at a cost of $2,000. Today, the department consists of 19 career personnel supplemented by part-time firefighters. The department operates under the direction of Chief Chris Fitch.
